Getting your player ready...

Height: 6-feet-3.

Weight: 205 pounds.

Age: 17. Born: Nov. 9, 1992, in Memphis, Tenn.

High school sport: Baseball (catcher, leads Class 5A with 11 home runs and 31 runs batted in).

Grade-point average: 3.7.

Class: Junior.

My favorite subject: History.

My favorite athletes: Joe Mauer and Albert Pujols.

My favorite team: St. Louis Cardinals.

What I listen to: Country, rap and rock; mainly country.

The best things on my training table: When my mom makes burgers or chicken sandwiches and spinach.

Pregame ritual: I throw with the same teammate and do the same stretches, but just get out there and go play.

Time management tip: I’m lucky enough, I guess, to have two off periods, so I use those times to get ahead on homework. Always use your free time, get down and dirty, and do homework. It gives you more free time in the end.

Planned career: Baseball has always been my goal, but I’m thinking business as a major.

My family: Parents Jim and Lee, sister Lindsey.

I would love to visit: I’ve been to China, and I had always wanted to go there, but now I’d like to go to Australia.

What I like most about high school sports: I would say the rivalries are always fun. I always think about them. What’s cool is, I know a lot of the kids I play against and have nice friendships.

What I like least about high school sports: The weather can be annoying. But, honestly, minus this past week, it hasn’t been so bad. Everything about them is nice, then you get to go to college. I’m enjoying this.
