BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — A former dictator of Argentina has been charged with an additional 49 cases of kidnapping, torture and murder.
Jorge Rafael Videla already is serving life in prison for crimes against humanity. He is among more than 100 suspects awaiting trial in the killings of hundreds of political dissidents allegedly made to disappear by Argentina’s army while Videla was in charge. He was de facto president from 1976 to 1981 and chief of the army before that.
