Colorado’s governor, Sen. Mark Udall and Rep. Diana DeGette wrote letters to the White House and Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colorado, called “a senior White House Official” to urge President Barack Obama to pick Denver in his commencement challenge.
Denver School of Science & Technology will learn Tuesday whether Obama will give the commencement speech at this month’s graduation.
DSST, a high-performing charter school in Stapleton, is one of three high schools in the country being considered for the honor dubbed the Race to the Top Commencement Challenge.
The school was among 1,000 entrants into the contest and was selected as one of the top three vote getters in an online poll among six finalists.
Possibly on DSST’s side of good fortune: this week is National Charter School Week.
