PAONIA, Colo.—Gunnison County authorities say they have arrested a man on suspicion of first-degree murder and fatal child abuse in the death of a 1-year-old.
Twenty-nine-year-old Edward Geavanni Cox was arrested Monday in the April 17 death of Christian Wentz in Somerset.
Cox was arrested in Paonia, near Somerset. Both are about 50 miles east of Grand Junction.
Sheriff’s officials didn’t say whether Cox and the infant were related.
Cox is being held without bail at the Gunnison County jail. Jail officials couldn’t say whether he had a lawyer.
Cox is due in court on May 11.
