Colorado’s schoolboy class of 2010 is no longer shut out of Division I basketball.
Bud Thomas of Regis Jesuit will sign today with Mercer University (Macon, Ga.). The 6-foot-6 forward stands alone in a thin class but will take a variety of credentials to the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Thomas led the Raiders to consecutive Class 5A state championships — the only two in the storied school’s history — and was a of Mr. Colorado Basketball by The Denver Post.
“It has always been a dream of mine to play college basketball and to one day compete to go to the NCAA Tournament. Hopefully, that dream will come true,” Thomas said.
A two-time Gatorade state player of the year, Thomas, who also holds a 3.7 grade-point average, averaged 19.9 points as a senior.
