Former East Angel Collen Warner is playing for Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake.

The 5-foot-10 midfielder, chosen 15th overall in January’s draft, passed on other opportunities in Europe for the chance to compete for the defending MLS champion.

The 2005 East graduate was a three- time West Coast Conference first-team selection at the University of Portland and twice led the Pilots in scoring, finishing with 20 career goals and six game-winners.

While at East, the Angels won the Denver Prep League twice and made the state semifinals when Warner was a freshman. Warner has yet to score in Real Salt Lake’s first six games (2-3-1).
