LONGMONT, Colo.—Longmont police say they arrested a man wanted by Mexican authorities who are investigating him for a homicide.

Police say 25-year-old Ricardo Padilla-Chavez is being held by Longmont police but that immigration authorities are expected to take him back to Mexico. Sgt. James Pitts says a Longmont officer arrested Padilla-Chavez Wednesday afternoon after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent spotted him in an SUV.

The details of the crime Padilla-Chavez is being investigated for were not immediately available. Pitts says ICE agents had been searching for Padilla-Chavez for six months.

Authorities believe he is in the U.S. illegally.
