Rocky Mountain, the three-time Class 5A baseball champion, is getting noticed nationally.
The Lobos have made it to 24th in the USA Today Super 25 rankings and may move up by next week’s listing.
After Tuesday’s 11-0 whipping of crosstown rival Fort Collins — behind a two-hit, 14-strikeout performance by Marco Gonzales and four hits by Pierce Trumper — Rocky Mountain remained the favorite to win a fourth straight title.
Since returning from a tournament in Arizona, coach Scott Bullock’s Lobos have won 12 games in a row — 10 in the Front Range League — and outscored foes by an aggregate 198-24 with five shutouts.
