MADISON, N.J. — Robert Pinsky and Bruce Springsteenthe former U.S. poet laureate and the unofficial poet laureate of rock ‘n’ roll — appeared on stage Thursday at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where they discussed their work and careers.
Springsteen performed some of his songs, including “Darkness on the Edge of Town” and “Born to Run,” and provided accompaniment to some of Pinsky’s poems.
Springsteen quipped that the two men are pursuing their second-favorite professions, saying he always wanted to be a poet and Pinsky always wanted to be a songwriter.
