Christopher Buckley, political satirist and son of the late William F. Buckley Jr., comes to Denver on Tuesday for the Jewish Family Service Executive Luncheon. So what’s he going to tell this ballroom filled with Jewish business leaders?
“What I am not going to tell them is how to be Jewish business leaders,” he tells me. “They have a better handle on that than I do.”
He was particularly pleased that the group had purchased 500 copies of his latest book, “Losing Mum and Pup: A Memoir,” which he was pleased to sign. Kind of. “On one hand, it’s a delightful task. On the other hand, it’s a carpal-tunnel-inducing task. But if you’re going to get carpal tunnel, this is a great way to get it.”
Buckley made some news in the fall of 2008 when he published a story in The Daily Beast titled “Sorry Dad, I’m Voting for Obama.” So he’ll be talking a tad about that Tuesday.
“I would not take back my vote,” he says. “I mean, the alternative was voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin. But you fall in and out of love with presidents. If I had to reduce it to a report card, I would probably give Obama a C-plus.”
How would dad have liked Obama?
“I don’t channel WFB. Hamlet tried it and it didn’t work out so well. But I think he would have liked aspects of him.”
Size matters.
Are you man enough to be Mister Big?
That’s what the women behind The Big Event want to know for their lavish viewing party for “Sex and the City 2” on May 28.
It gets a kickoff Thursday night with a VIP fashion fit for 100 dames at Garbarini in Cherry Creek. They’re going to help these women Carrie-up for the big night, which starts with cocktails at Restaurant Kevin Taylor. Then there’s the screening at Denver Pavilions, followed by The Big Event party at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. It’s all a fashion-forward benefit for Warren Village — and the man who gives the nonprofit the most $ is pronounced Mister Big. At least for the night.

Eat up.
I hope it’s a trend.
A group of six prom-goers ate it up at Del Frisco’s last Friday. No booze, of course, but you can still run up a tab with those fist-size shrimp and dictionary-size steaks.
Came time to pay the bill — and the kids were told it’s all been paid for. A nearby table thought the gang was so polite and cute, they picked up the tab and insisted on remaining anonymous.
I’m so pretty.
People magazine last week came out with its Most Beautiful People roster, with two Coloradans on it: Amy Adams for being pretty at 35. And Jessica Biel, 28, for being pretty with the name Jessica. “I think my parents were originally going with the name Snowmo Biel,” she tells People. “So I guess in that respect Jessica was a real win for me.”
City spirit.
For Mother’s Day on Sunday, mamacita gets a Mom-Mosa and a cookbook at Elway’s at the Ritz-Carlton. . . . Jill Biden and friends lunched at Opus last Friday while Veep Joe Biden was in town talking education and stimulus. . . . Sez who: “Boredom is a great motivator.” Uma Thurman
