Getting your player ready...

Finishing second normally stinks, but when it comes to the all-NBA teams, it puts you in select company. Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony made second-team all-NBA in media voting announced Thursday.

The first-team forwards were Cleveland’s LeBron James and Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, who, coincidentally, finished first and second in the MVP voting. The guards were Kobe Bryant of the Lakers and Dwyane Wade of the Heat. Orlando’s Dwight Howard, who won the league’s award for the top defensive player, was the first-team center.

Anthony, who finished with nine first-team votes from the 122 media voters, was joined on the second team by forward Dirk Nowitzki of Dallas, center Amar’e Stoudemire of Phoenix and guards Steve Nash from the Suns and Deron Williams of Utah.

Anthony averaged 28.2 points per game in the regular season, good for fourth-best in the league. He averaged 30.7 points in the first-round loss to Utah in the postseason. The third team featured Milwaukee center Andrew Bogut, Pau Gasol (Lakers) and Tim Duncan (Spurs) at forward, and Brandon Roy (Trail Blazers) and Joe Johnson (Hawks) as guards.
