Don’t be fooled by “ditzy” Jessica Simpson. When it comes to business she’s certainly no fool.

Simpson is already raking in $50 million a year on fashion and accessory lines for women.

And now the singer, who has a reputation — and a knack, apparently — for dressing her boyfriends, is adding menswear to her fashion empire.

Her licensed items include shoes, fragrances, jewelry, clothing and handbags, to name a few.

And the deals continue to pour in for her styles, which are considered casual but classy.

Her shampoo has been a best-seller at WalMart.

The upheaval in Tiger Woods‘ life continues, as his coach Hank Haney has resigned. How’d he do it? Via text message.

“I believe at this time that it is in both of our best interests for me to step aside as Tiger’s coach,” Haney said in a statement yesterday to The Golf Channel, according to Golf.com. “I will always look back upon our past half dozen years together as my best days in professional golf.”

Haney did not give a reason, saying it was just time to move on. He told KTCK-AM sports radio in Dallas yesterday that he had resigned via text message.

“I texted him last night (that I was leaving), and he texted me back,” Haney told the station. “We went back and forth for a while, but he had his kids last night and couldn’t talk. We are going to talk later today.”

Haney insisted he wasn’t fired. He also predicted that Woods will return to top form after his sex scandal. “As we all know, Tiger has been through a lot in the past six months,” he said, “and I really believe that given the chance, mind free and injury free, we will all see Tiger Woods play once again like we all know he can.”

Will Betty White bump Jimmy Fallon as Emmy host?

After White’s critically acclaimed performance on “Saturday Night Live,” a Facebook campaign has sprung up to get her signed as a host for the Emmy Awards.

While Fallon has already been confirmed as the host of the Aug. 29 Emmys, the campaign, started by blogger Abe Gurko, states: “It is quite obvious after Betty White’s job hosting ‘SNL’ on May 8th, that she is more than worthy of hosting the 2010 Emmys.”

The 88-year-old showbiz legend agreed to host ‘SNL’ after a 500,000-member Facebook campaign. Her appearance got the highest ratings for the NBC show in 18 months.

Donald Trump has come to the defense of the Miss USA Pageant after the organization received flack for a series of risqué photos featuring this year’s contestants.

For their official competition portrait, the 51 women, most of whom are in their early 20s, have traded in their traditional ball gowns and tiaras to seductively pose in lacy lingerie while lounging around in bed.

Trump, who owns the Miss Universe organization, voiced his support for the pictures, saying that he has “no problem with it.”

“We are in a different age. They are a little bit sexy but I’ll tell you what – everybody’s watching, so I have no problems with it,” Trump, 63, told The Insider. “If you look at Miss America, it’s now off network television – and we’re doing better than ever, so I really have no problem with it.”

He added, “The Miss USA Pageant and the Miss Universe Pageant just got renewed for three years by NBC. The ratings have been terrific.”

Trump is no stranger when it comes to defending scantily-dressed pageant contestants.

In 2009, he initially supported Miss California Carrie Prejean after a semi-nude photo of her appeared on a gossip blog. However despite his stance, Trump eventually agreed to terminate Prejean’s contract, citing “continued breach of contract issues.”
