Authorities have released photos of a couple who are believed to have ripped off senior citizens in the Denver metro area and on the Eastern Plains.

In the latest incident, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the couple victimized a 92-year-old Strasburg man. Deputies said the couple knocked on the back door of the victim’s home on April 29. When the man opened his door, the couple entered the home, hugged him and said they had not seen him in a long time.

Shortly after entering the home, the male said he had to use the bathroom. In the next few minutes, the victim said he saw the man leaving and then re-entering his home several times. Investigators said the victim later found his home had been ransacked and coins, currency and jewelry were missing.

According to Sgt. Candi Baker, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, the couple then went to a gas station near Strasburg and spent some of the old coins they had just taken from the victim.
