A man who stole two laptop computers from a research company fired his gun at residents in a Wheat Ridge neighborhood as a company employee chased him, authorities say.

Police are searching for the suspect after he fled around 11:50 a.m. today from Western States Clinical Research, 9201 W. 44th Ave. in Wheat Ridge.

An employee chased the suspect as he ran from the business east into a residential area. As they were running, the suspect fired a handgun several times in the air and towards residents in a residential neighborhood. No one was struck by bullets.

Police believed they had the suspect contained in a neighborhood near the business and were doing a house to house search using dogs, but the suspect was not caught.

The suspect had a prominent mole on the right side of his nose and was believed to be between 25 and 32 years old.

If anyone has information about this suspect please call the Wheat Ridge Police Department tip line at 303-235-2947.
