LOMA, Colo.—Mesa County investigators says they’re not going to try to figure how a case of dynamite ended up in a rural ditch north of Loma.
The dynamite was discovered Saturday by a volunteer on a highway cleanup crew. Authorities say the volunteer spotted 16 pounds of dynamite in a plastic case. No one was hurt.
Investigators say the dynamite was left in an irrigation ditch. The dynamite had a manufacture date of 1998.
Mesa County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Sally Weese says the incident is not being investigated. She says a bomb squad from Grand Junction blew up the dynamite safely.
