Rage in the Sage; mountain biking, running and rock-climbing races; all events at Hartman Rocks Multiuse Recreation Area, 3 1/2 miles west of Gunnison; May 28 is 24-hour rock-climbing relay marathon ($30, ); May 29 is Sage Burner Trail Running Race, 25K and 50K courses ($45 to $65, -life/fitness-center/sage-burner); May 30 is Original Growler mountain bike race (note: registration is sold out, ).

CLIMBING

June 11-12

Fourth Annual HERA Climb4Life Colorado; in Boulder area; includes hiking and climbing activities and outdoor skills clinics taught by professional guides and professional climbers; new in 2010 is orienteering and wilderness first-aid training; for women, men and children age 6 and older; $60-$75.

CYCLING

Thursday

Gunnison Growler Mountain Bike Series; at Hartman Rocks Multiuse Recreation Area in Gunnison; men’s and women’s divisions in three categories: short course, long course, sport and long course expert; includes a kids race; 5:45 p.m. or 970-275-0485

Sunday

Bike-handling skills training for all levels; in Morrison; road bike training includes braking, cornering, descending, bumping and riding, climbing and attacking safely in a peloton; instructors are some of Colorado’s top road cyclists, including Tyler Hamilton, Kerstin Weule, Alison Powers, Chuck Coyle and Neil Fraser; $95, registration deadline Wednesday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Bible Park 2-mile run and racewalk, and pancake breakfast; begins at East Yale Avenue and South Quebec Street in Denver; Rocky Mountain Road Runners Trophy Series event; free to members, $10 for nonmembers; 8 a.m.

June 13

Estes Park Marathon and Half Marathon; also 10K and 5K race options; highest paved marathon course in the world and USATF certified course; $35-$70 for individual, $165 marathon relay team.
