ABC, hoping to launch another buzzworthy series to take the place of “Lost,” announced 10 new shows for fall 2010-11.
Based on clips, some of the new shows clearly are modeled on previous ABC winners: “No Ordinary Family,” with Michael Chiklis (“The Shield”) borrows the supernatural mystery elements of “Lost,” and “Better Together,” a comedy about a family with contrasting styles, has echoes of “Modern Family.”
The network announced “V” will return at midseason, “FlashForward” is fini.
ABC President Stephen McPherson described the job of development as “the passionate pursuit of alchemy.” He hopes next season’s alchemy can reach the heights “Lost” and “Modern Family” scaled this year. The emphasis is on comedy, he said.
