DURANGO, Colo.—Lakewood-based Colorado Goldfields is seeking a state permit to reactivate the Pride of the West Mill north of Silverton in southwest Colorado this summer.

The mill would be capable of producing lead, zinc, gold and silver. The Durango Herald reports that the mill is expected to generate $2.5 million per year and has a replacement value of $20 million.

Colorado Goldfields bought the mill about three years ago. It also owns the nearby Mayday, Mogul and Gold King mines.

San Juan County Commissioner Ernest Kuhlman says having a custom mill in the area will encourage mining.
