
BREMERTON, Wash. — Espen Kofstad of the University of Denver is in second place with one round remaining at the NCAA West Regional at the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain, while the Colorado State team dropped from second place to sixth after Friday’s second round.
Kofstad shot a 1-under-par 71 in the second round and stands at 3-under 140, one stroke behind Darren Wallace of Washington. Wyoming’s Gabe Maier moved up 12 spots into a tie for 32nd after a second- round 72, at 5-over 149.
CSU shot a 10-over 298 in the second round and is at 13-over 589, 20 strokes behind the leader and host, Washington.
DU’s Kim falters
WILMINGTON, N.C. — Denver’s Kimberly Kim shot her worst round of the NCAA championship at Country Club of Landfall, a 3-over 75, and fell into a tie for 27th place with a 5-over 293, 17 strokes behind the winner.
AFA’s Whitney shoots 75
SANTEE, Calif. — Air Force’s Tom Whitney shot a 3-over 75 in the second round of the Southwest Regional at Carlton Oaks G.C., and is at 6-over 150 for the tournament, 10 strokes behind the leader. Justin Bardgett of Colorado is two strokes behind Whitney after a second-round 76.
