LOVELAND, Colo.—Republican state Rep. Cory Gardner is poised to take on Democratic Rep. Betsy Markey in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.
Gardner was the clear winner in a Republican assembly Friday to narrow primary candidates. The three Republicans wanting to challenge Markey needed 30 percent in a gathering of Republican delegates; only Gardner met the threshold.
Gardner owns a farm supply business in Yuma.
Markey was elected in 2008, the first Democrat to win in three decades in a sprawling district that includes much of northern and eastern Colorado. She has no Democratic opposition.
