A few years ago, the county was about to cut down three trees when Diane Atwood and Liz Darling led a battle to save the trunks. Six trunks come out of the three trees, and the plan is to carve them all in different images. Spear Lodge Man took American Indian artist Eddie Running Wolf a year to complete, and he is nearly finished with the second carving, Eagle Catcher.
