REYKJAVIK — The eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano has slowed, with the lava flow completely stopping and only a “small amount of ash,” the University of Iceland said.
The eruption has declined a great deal, the university’s Institute of Earth Sciences said on its website in a joint statement with the Icelandic Met Office.
Ash spewed from the Eyjafjallajokull volcano last month grounded 100,000 flights and cost airline carriers $1.7 billion in lost sales, according to the International Air Transport Association.
