The family of slain 12-year-old Kayleah Wilson on Sunday canceled a news conference planned for today.
“The family is not prepared to speak tomorrow,” family friend Kristopher Poskey said in an e-mail.
Instead, the family invited the public to a memorial service at 2 p.m.Tuesday at the Clarion Hotel ballroom, 701 8th St. in Greeley.
Kayleah disappeared March 28. Her decomposed body was found Wednesday in an irrigation ditch in Greeley, about a mile from where she was last seen walking to a friend’s birthday party.
Authorities have said her death was not accidental.
Fourteen hours after her body was found, 18-year-old Robert Laurencio Montoya was arrested on sexual- abuse charges related to Kayleah, but he has not been named a suspect in her disappearance and death.
