Dish Network reached an agreement to carry NBC Universal’s Weather Channel after the two companies haggled over the terms of a distribution contract.
The multiyear agreement includes an interactive TV application and Internet and mobile services that will be introduced this summer, Dish said in a statement Monday. Terms weren’t disclosed.
Dish threatened to drop Weather Channel last week in favor of its own network, dubbed Weather Cast, if the two companies couldn’t reach an agreement. Weather Channel encouraged Dish’s 14 million subscribers to switch to other pay-TV providers if a fee accord couldn’t be reached.
