It’s here at last. The first three-day weekend in a season that seems filled with them.
As such, Denver’s bars and clubs are gearing up for a party-summer kind of weekend. Sure, summer doesn’t officially start until June 21, but who cares? Coloradans have been cooped up for long enough. It’s time to get out there — ski season is great, but let’s move on.
As usual, the fine folks at Lotus Clubs are leading the charge with a full weekend of activities. Tonight, the holiday starts off in grubby fashion with a kickoff party hosted by Nik Richie at Suite Two Hundred (1427 Larimer St.). Richie, the founder of gossip blog , calls himself “the world’s first-ever reality blogger.” His site is full of innuendo and snarky comments about everyday people, not just celebs, submitted by his “Dirty Army.” Be careful what you do in his presence.
Also tonight, 5 Degrees (1475 Lawrence St.) kicks off its Courtyard Carnival Series with the “Carnival de Nice” party.
With a “French flowers” theme, the soiree features art from local artists and a colorful drink special with blue-tinted Hpnotiq liqueur. Guests can vote for the party’s “Flower Queen” from a group of styled models.
Upcoming Courtyard Carnivals include Brazilian, Italian and All-American varieties, scheduled once-monthly through August.
Finally, on Sunday, Suite Two Hundred hosts Slacker and Steve’s annual White Party.
The two DJs from radio station Alice 105.9 will join a delegation of Colorado Rapids players in mixing and mingling with the Memorial Day crowds.
Guests can enter to win a trip for two to Las Vegas and can sign up for a Denver model search.
Tickets are required for the event: $15-$60 in advance, or $20 at the door. Buy advance tickets at .
At Vinyl (1082 Broadway), Sunday brings the grand reopening of the “Climax” party. Every Sunday through Labor Day, Climax takes over Vinyl’s spacious rooftop for an evening of partying under the stars.
The GLBT-friendly shindig features a grip of DJs — Tatiana, Shane Stiel and Gary Givant — spinning all sorts of people-pleasing tunes, from pop to Latin dance hits. Drink specials will ensure that Saturday-night hangovers are eliminated and Monday-morning ones become possible: $2 drafts, $3 wells and $4 calls.
Doors open at 4 p.m., so show up early to grab some food from the grill and fuel up for a fun evening.
Beta (1909 Blake St.) is using the occasion to launch a new events series, “Imagination” — Sunday’s party is the first installment.
Dubbed “Imagination White,” the event will have Beta redecorated in white both inside the club and out on its spacious patio. Guests are part of the scene, too: White attire is required for entry, with an all-white outfit strongly suggested.
Music will be provided by in-house DJ heroes Manufactured Superstars and Jonas Tempel, with costumed dancers adding to the vibe.
Doors open at 9 p.m. Sunday. Buy $10 advance tickets at .
Oh, my gosh, there’s another one!
Hot on the heels of Greenwood Village’s Chez Cirque (7600 Landmark Way), Wild Ivories Dueling Piano Saloon (1400 Market St.) opens June 4 in LoDo.
The club promises a full night of sing-along merriment, all by request from the audience. And if it gets too exciting to sit still, there’s an adjoining club, Juke, with dueling DJs. Yes, everything is by request there, too.
