The life of a former state lawmaker who died of cancer will be celebrated at a funeral Mass today in Pueblo.
Rafael Gallegos died Monday. He was 71.
Gallegos, who retired from the National Weather Service, served in the state House from 2005 to 2008. During the session, the San Luis Valley resident on Friday mornings delivered weather reports so lawmakers going home that afternoon would know what to expect.
Gallegos had battled kidney cancer for 10 months.
Mass is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral followed by interment at Roselawn Cemetery.
