Stay here if you: are looking for an enormous room at a reasonable rate for a luxurious weekend Manhattan getaway in a boutique, non-smoking hotel.
It’s close to: Grand Central Station, restaurants and shopping — but then again, everything in Manhattan is close to everything. Within walking distance of the theater district, Fifth Avenue shopping, Park Avenue, Times Square, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building and the United Nations.
The rooms are: huge. This was the largest room I’ve ever stayed in during a trip to New York. It included a desk and sofa for relaxing with plenty of room to spread out. Striped wallpaper with soft florals and the most comfortable hotel bed you’ll ever sleep in. Rooms sport flat-screen TVs, in-room safes, terrycloth robes, Wi-Fi and data ports on the telephones (there is a $14.95 per-day charge).
They put all of the money into: making you comfortable. The rooms are quiet. Our room faced 44th Street, and we never heard the traffic. The marble bathrooms are perfect and spacious; ours could have fit six or seven people comfortably. The staff is unbelievably well trained and took the time to help in any way they could to make our stay comfortable.
The bottom line: Although I found this place online while searching for a good price, I would definitely stay here again. It’s on the East Side, and while we’re more used to the West Side, we were able to find our way around easily — with the help of the attentive staff. We were pampered from the time we stepped in the door by staff members. The on-site pub, covered patio, extra space, conscientious staff and club-feel lobby made for an incredible weekend while we were in town for a wedding.
