A 45-year-old Highlands Ranch man who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and five years of supervised probation this week.

An undercover online investigation in 2008 led FBI agents to Wayne Cook’s home in Highlands Ranch, where child pornography was being distributed.

Agents found about 2,000 images and 30 videos on his computer that “depicted children under the age of 12 years old. The images portray sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver.

In addition to prison time, Cook will be a registered sex offender subject to unannounced searches of his home, automobile and electronic media under the terms of his plea agreement.

He was sentenced Tuesday.
