DENVER—Emergency responders say a truck hauling hundreds of “practice rockets” for the military crashed on Interstate 25 north of Denver, but the munitions remained safe and intact.

North Metro Fire spokeswoman Wendy Forbes says an estimated 50 to 60 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto the highway when the truck hit a guardrail around 5 a.m. Wednesday along the northbound lanes of I-25 near Colorado 7.

Fort Carson spokesman Lt. Col. Steve Wollman says the truck was carrying 10 pallets of 2.75-inch practice rockets that were not live, with 48 rockets on each pallet.

The Gazette reports that a passenger in the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries. Broomfield police say the driver was cited with careless driving causing injury.
