From looking for that perfect fly-fishing hole to dropping a line in the closest lake, summer is a great time to spend a day by the water. But while the fishing is easy, it’s also time to start thinking about the fall hunt.
June 5-6: Free fishing weekend statewide. No license needed to fish, but all other regulations including bag and possession limits remain in effect.
June 12: 10th annual Arvada Reservoir kids fishing day begins at 6 a.m. for ages 3-14.
June 19: “Cast and Twang” fishing and archery clinic for women by the Colorado Division of Wildlife at Haviland State Wildlife Area near Durango.
July 8: Application deadline for limited-license fall turkey hunting.
July 12: Over-the-counter big-game hunting licenses for fall seasons go on sale.
Aug. 10: Leftover big-game licenses go on sale over-the-counter at DOW offices.
Aug. 11: Leftover big-game hunting licenses on sale online.
Aug. 28: Archery hunting season for deer and elk begins.
Sept. 1: Hunting seasons for doves, sharp-tailed and dusky grouse, chukars, band-tailed pigeons and turkeys begin.
