The body of a man was removed from Sloan’s Lake last night after passersby spotted an empty wheelchair next to the lake, authorities say.

Police were called to the lake near 17th Avenue and Utica Street at 9 p.m.

They discovered the body submerged in the lake near the wheelchair, said Leslie Branchwise, spokeswoman for the Denver Police Department.

“It appears to be an accident,” Branchwise said.

The victim, whose identity is being confirmed, may have been a transient, she said.
