LONGMONT, Colo.—Clara Alley of Fort Collins says she doesn’t even like heights. But when she was looking for a way to spend her 90th birthday, she had two specific ideas: Get a tattoo and go skydiving.

On Thursday, with a freshly inked butterfly above her ankle, she took off from Vance Brand Municipal Airport in Longmont with the Mile-Hi Skydiving Center and took a tandem jump with a guide.

Alley says she just thought it’d be a good idea.

About 20 friends and family members were at the airport Thursday for Alley’s jump, including three sisters, ages 88, 91 and 95.

Alley says she still does her own yard work, housekeeping and cooking. She plays golf regularly.

Alley says most people think she’s 70.
