ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — Trail Ridge Road was open intermittently on Saturday but remains closed at night. Motorists are warned to use caution.

The nation’s highest continuously paved road was cleared and opened Friday, but then shut down again as officials realized how much erosion damage existed. The road reopened to cars Saturday afternoon, using a pilot car to lead them through.

Snowmelt is now freezing overnight, prompting nighttime closures. Motorists are asked to call 970-586-1222 for updated status reports on the road.
