In a Saturday afternoon news conference, Denver police said no charges are being filed against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vincente Padilla over an alleged case of domestic violence.

The report said that Denver police were called to a hotel near Coors Field at 3:51 a.m. Saturday morning. The call was made by a woman, but police didn’t indicate what her relationship was to Padilla. Police said the allegations against Padilla were unfounded.

The Dodgers issued a statement through a spokesperson.

“We’re aware of the situation and we’re looking into it,” the statement said. “But we’ll not comment further on a pending legal matter.”

The Dodgers are in town to play a weekend series against the Rockies. Padilla currently is on the disabled list.

Manager Joe Torre said, “No charges were filed so there’s nothing I need to say.”

Torre said he wasn’t aware that any other Dodgers player was involved in the incident.
