RTD General Manager Phil Washington on Tuesday named Ritter administration senior transportation adviser Carla Perez as the transit agency’s assistant general manager of administration.
Perez will be responsible for the Regional Transportation District’s human resources, information technology, materials management and civil-rights-division functions.
Perez has more than 20 years experience working on transportation policy, finance and development issues. She will join RTD on June 21.
She spent eight years in the 1990s at the Colorado Department of Transportation before moving to private-sector consulting on transportation in 1999.
In 2007, she joined Gov. Bill Ritter’s administration as senior policy adviser for transportation. She worked with the governor’s special panel on transportation finance and was one of the administration’s key voices in promoting the FASTER transportation law enacted by Colorado legislators last year.
Washington, who was named RTD’s general manager in December, also reached outside the agency to select Del Walker as deputy assistant general manager of capital programs, with day-to-day responsibility for the FasTracks transit expansion.
Walker spent 20 years at CDOT and served for a time as that agency’s lead manager on the $1.7 billion T-REX transportation project in southeast metro Denver. For the past two years, Walker has been with Parsons Transportation Group.
Washington also announced promotions for senior RTD managers Richard Clarke, William Van Meter, Bruce Abel and Michael Gil.
