
The FBI on Tuesday arrested a woman believed to be the “Bad Hatter Bandit,” wanted for robbing two Denver banks and attempting to rob a third since April while wearing a floppy pink hat.
Debra Flamio, 54, was arrested by Denver police and FBI agents at a home in the 3300 block of South Holly Way in Denver.
Flamio was arrested in 2002 on a forgery charge and received a two-year deferred sentence, records show.
She is accused of an attempted bank robbery April 15 at the TCF Bank at 2090 S. University Blvd. and a bank robbery a short time later that day at the Bank of the West at 6565 E. Evans Ave.. She also is suspected of robbing the Bank of the West at 2050 S. Downing St. on May 25.
Investigators said the robber presented a note to a teller demanding cash, but no weapon was shown and no one was injured.
Flamio is being held in the Denver City Jail before an appearance in federal court and prosecution by the U.S. attorney’s office in Denver. Joey Bunch, The Denver Post
