This promises to be one of the summer’s best day (or weekend) trips: The 17th annual Colorado Barbecue Challenge in Frisco is set for June 17-19.

Everyone is welcome to sample barbecue from experts from across the state and around the country. Also: barbecuing demo from “Top Chef” winner Brian Malarkey, a Kids Kook-Off contest and a Stranahan’s whiskey-fueled grilling extravaganza. Vote in the sauce competition, which benefits the Colorado Restaurant Education Fund. Watch the pig races. Live music and plenty of ‘cue round out the raucous event. Visit for more info.
