Tiger returns to the links
With the U.S. Open two weeks away, Tiger Woods doesn’t have much time to hone his golf game, and there’s plenty of uncertainty in his life. In addition to facing an expected divorce because of his acknowledged infidelity, beginning today at Muirfield Village in suburban Columbus, Ohio, Woods will be testing out a neck problem — diagnosed as an inflamed joint — that caused him to miss the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship and withdraw from The Players Championship. Also, this is Woods’ first tournament since he parted ways with swing coach Hank Haney. At least Woods ought to feel comfortable with the surroundings. In last year’s Memorial, he shot a final-round 65 to win, hitting every fairway on Sunday.
