The CSU club baseball team won the National Club Baseball Association World Series in Fort Myers, Fla., on Thursday, defeating Penn State 7-1 in the championship game. It marked the first time in NCBA World Series history that both teams entered the final undefeated in Series play. Bobby Moller pitched a complete game, and Rams catcher Tommy Johnson was named the Series MVP by providing three home runs, clutch hitting and outstanding defensive play. It was CSU’s sixth victory in the 10 years of NCBA World Series play and its third title in a row.

Clark returns to Metro State.

The college basketball coaching carousel continued to turn, as Metro State hired former Colorado assistant Derrick Clark to be its men’s coach, the school said.

Clark spent the past three seasons on Jeff Bzdelik’s bench at CU. He was an assistant at Metro State under Mike Dunlap for eight seasons, from 1997-2005, before leaving for an assistant’s job at Air Force with Bzdelik.

Clark replaces Brannon Hays, who resigned last month.

Wiebe rides roller coaster at NCAAs.

Gunner Wiebe, a former Kent Denver High School standout now playing for the University of San Diego, had eight birdies in the third round of the NCAA Championship, but they were offset by four bogeys and two double bogeys in an even-par round of 72. Wiebe, son of pro golfer Mark Wiebe, is in a tie for 25th place at 1-under 215, nine strokes behind the leader, Scott Langley of Illinois.

Steve Ziegler of Legacy High School and Stanford shot a 74 at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn., and is tied for 41st at 217. Espen Kofstad of the University of Denver is at 71—225, in a tie for 103rd.
