As with the selection process for the One Book, One Denver program last year, the city of Denver has opened it up to a public vote for the 2010 book.

You can vote online for your pick for this year’s program through June 15 at .

In the first five years of the program, Mayor John Hickenlooper picked the winners: “Peace Like a River,” by Leif Enger; “Caramelo,” by Sandra Cisneros; “The Milagro Beanfield War,” by John Nichols; and “The Thin Man,” by Dashiell Hammett.

Last year people voted among 27 titles. Some 2,000 people voted online, the majority favoring Harper Lee’s classic “To Kill a Mockingbird,” the choice of several such programs around the country.

This year, your choices have narrowed to three: Annie Proulx’s “Fine Just the Way It Is”; David Wroblewski’s “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle”; and “The Help,” by Kathryn Stockett.

You can use the website to read a summary of each book, hear the first one or two paragraphs, learn about the authors and read reviews.

The winner will be announced Sept. 1.
