Eleanor Fulton will be in the Jim Ryun High School Dream Mile on June 12 in New York City. A Highlands Ranch High School senior in 2010-11, Fulton will be part of the Adidas Grand Prix, one of the top outdoor meets nationally.

Twenty competitors are entered in girls, 19 who were state or national champions in track and field or cross country; there also will be 20 boys. The girls include Fulton, who was second in Class 5A cross country last fall, then last month was big-school champion in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, and second in the 800.

Elway-Hart team loses by a stroke.

Jim Strickland and Warren Vickers of Scottsdale, Ariz., shot a final-round 67 to overtake Broncos Hall of Famer John Elway and Tom Hart, both of Denver, and win the Charlie Coe Invitational at Castle Pines Golf Club.

Strickland and Vickers’ total of 13-under-par 203 nipped Elway and Hart by one stroke. Rick George of Denver and Paul Schlachter of Bridgeville, Pa., won the Senior-Am division by five strokes with a 201.

Longmont’s Jennings finishes second.

Christine Jennings, a Niwot High School graduate who lives in Longmont, finished second in the 10-kilometer event at USA Swimming’s National Open Water Championships in Long Beach, Calif.

The runner-up finish qualified Jennings for both the world championships in Quebec in July and the Pan Pacific Championships in August in Irvine, Calif.
