Summer beckons

Today’s “Saturday Free Day” program at the Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion, also known as “Colorado’s Home,” spotlights the state’s summer attractions. Dubbed “Off the Beaten Trail,” this is a chance to discover the warm-weather allure of the likes of Cheyenne, Elbert, Kit Carson and Lincoln counties. Beginning at 11 a.m., look for costumed volunteers portraying some of Colorado’s original pioneers, an antique car display, flint knapping and arrowhead displays, live music and more. 400 E. “Upload, vote, win!”

Umbra, a company known for making highbrow design affordable, is sponsoring a contest in which consumers are invited to help conceive future products. As part of the “You Design” contest, entrants are asked to submit photos featuring creative uses of Umbra products. Finalists selected by a panel of top designers will receive a trip to New York City, and one winner will land $5,000 in Umbra products. Check out the entries and submit yours at .

Greener pastures

The Boulder Green Building Guild’s Fourth Annual Product and Service Fair is today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boulder Central Park, next to the Farmers Market. The fair is a chance to connect with local green businesses and service providers. New this year: An “Ask the Expert” booth for homeowners interested in learning more about eco-kind upgrades.
