Friends of the Jefferson County Public Library continue the Spring Whale of a Book Sale today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices range from 50 cents to $2.50 on gently used books, videos, audiobooks and DVDs. Shop back through time

All merchandise is on sale at The Trade Goods and Book Store at Bent’s Old Fort, a reconstructed 1840s adobe fur trading post on the Santa Fe Trail where trappers, travelers, and Plains Indian tribes came together to trade. It is a National Historic Site. The sale today and Sunday is part of Bent’s 50th-anniversary weekend celebration. Reproduction 19th-century blankets, leather pouches, copper rum cups, flint, steel and more, along with dozens of books about the fort, Native Americans and Sand Creek are discounted 15 percent.
