Fort Collins police have made an arrest in an attempted kidnapping that occurred early Thursday.
Luis Garcia-Gonzales, 24, of Greeley was taken into custody Saturday night when Greeley police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one connected to the crime.
The incident happened when a 21-year-old woman riding her bicycle around 6:30 a.m. Thursday reported being stopped and approached by a man driving an older, white station wagon with rust spots.
Thinking the man needed help, the woman got off her bike and approached him. Then she saw he had a knife and turned to run, falling to the ground as she tried to escape. Two people driving by stopped to help the victim, who was not injured, according to the report. The suspect fled the scene.
The victim called 911 and gave police a possible Colorado license plate number.
