Comcast today will launch more than 70 new high-definition channels for many of its subscribers in metro Denver, Colorado Springs and Loveland.

The cable-TV giant also will move forward with previously announced plans to rebrand its products and services in Colorado as Xfinity TV, Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Voice.

The new channels that will be available in HD include Discovery, BET, Comedy Central, Lifetime, MSNBC and Altitude, the regional sports network for Stan Kroenke’s Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche.

Comcast said many communities in Colorado, including Parker, Lakewood, Golden and Broomfield, have already started receiving the new HD channels. Additional areas to launch in the next few weeks include Aurora, Arvada, Westminster and Littleton.

Most of metro Denver should have the new channels by the end of the summer, and the majority of the state should have them by the end of the year, said spokeswoman Cindy Parsons. Comcast now offers more than 100 HD channels.

The company disclosed plans in February to change, market by market, its consumer brand name to Xfinity. Comcast will remain the company’s corporate name, but marketing materials in Colorado will now prominently feature Xfinity.
