The great outdoors
Today Denver celebrates National Get Outdoors Day with an event at City Park. This is a chance to make a healthy lifestyle pledge and take the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge. Guests include Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl. Rock climbing, a rope obstacle course, 5K and 10K walks, canoeing, fishing, biking and geocaching are all part of the fun. 2001 Steele St. From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; admission is free.
Cool sounds for hot days

Ready, set, action!
“The A-Team” stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel. Based on the 1980s TV series, this movie is about a team of fugitive U.S. Iraq War vets who try to clear their names after being wrongly accused of a crime. PG-13.

Twenty-five years after the original, the remake of “The Karate Kid” is hitting theaters. In this version, a single mom moves to China for work, forcing her young son to deal with the transition to a new culture. Her son, played by Jaden Smith, embraces karate with the help of an unassuming master, Jackie Chan. PG.
