Sixty-nine percent of families have moved to a new home at least once in their children’s lifetime, and 18 percent have moved three or more times, according to a survey.

The survey also revealed that 54 percent of parents worry about their children’s apprehensions about a move. When it comes to the kids, more than half worry most about making new friends at school or in their neighborhood, 18 percent wonder if they’ll feel at home in the new place and 14 percent feel anxious about getting acclimated to the new neighborhood.

When choosing a new home, 61 percent of parents said a safe neighborhood is the most important factor, and nearly a quarter of parents believe that a living space large enough for the entire family to live in comfortably is equally important.

One third of children want their own bedrooms, 27 percent wish for a neighborhood with other kids their own age and 25 percent pine for a big backyard. Margaret Jackson, The Denver Post
