DENVER—The U.S. Department of Agriculture is boosting its forecast for winter wheat production in Colorado.
Based on conditions June 1, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service is forecasting production of 89.7 million bushels, up 3 percent from the May 1 forecast.
It’s 8 percent below the 98 million bushels harvested last year.
The agency is forecasting an average yield of 39 bushels per acre, or 1 bushel per acre below the average last year.
