The University of Denver received $17.5 million from Betty Knoebel, widow of Denver food-services pioneer Ferdinand “Fritz” Knoebel. The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management in DU’s Daniels College of Business will receive $7.5 million for scholarships, faculty support, industry partnerships and learning programs. The school will be named the Fritz Knoebel School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management. The gift includes the 996-acre B Bar K Ranch in Morrison, which is valued in excess of $10 million.

The American Indian College Fund received $20,000 from the Forest County Potawatomi Community Foundation of Milwaukee to establish a named scholarship program.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing has donated money and supplies to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver as part of its sponsorship. The firm’s plumbers are volunteering to keep Ronald McDonald House plumbing in good working condition and are collecting supplies for the families staying there.

Texas Roadhouse restaurants in the Denver area will offer a free lunch fundraiser to benefit the Salvation Army on June 29. The restaurants will offer a free lunch in exchange for donations of any amount.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado received an in-kind contribution from Elitch Gardens valued at more than $200,000. The donation came in the form of 5,800 free admissions for students from the four Colorado schools that raised the most money in the foundation’s 2010 Kids for Wish Kids program.
