A tired and bleeding Great Dane was rescued Thursday night by Colorado Springs firefighters.
According to Lt. Mike Smaldino, a fire spokesman, the dog and his owner were hiking in Bear Creek Park about three-quarters of a mile from the nature center.
The owner noticed that the dog was tired and had bloody paws so he left the dog there, hiked out and called for help.
Firefighters wrapped bandages around the dog’s feet, gave him an IV to hydrate him, put the dog on a stretcher with a wheel and rolled him out. Smaldino said the dog will be fine.
